Lipsi island
Lipsi is a group of small islands of the Dodecanese with 698
residents. Lipsos or lipsi, the main island from which comes
the name of the group is located between Patmos and Leros
and a little east of the imaginary straight line that
connects to the north Dodecanese.
Lipsi is a group of small islands including the islands
Aspronisia, Kalapodia, Franco, Plavi and other small islands
with a total area of 23 square kilometres. The surface of
the main island Lipsos is 16 square kilometres. with rolling
coast 35 km. Because the island is small is easy to turn
anyone with walking. On the island there is a taxi service
and municipality buses that can take you around the island.
In Lipsi there are some beautiful sandy beaches, such as
Kamares, Katsadia, Liendou,Monodentri, Tourkomnima
Chochlakoura and Platis Gialos. In the small natural harbor
is the town with small white houses, taverns, cafes and
restaurants .
There are ATM on the island and motor bike
rentals. Lipsi is connected with ferry with Piraeus and
other islands of the Dodecanese. Leros and Patmos are only
half hour away with the catamaran Dodekanisos Express and
the hydrofoils that run from April - October.
Lipsi formed and continue to be a municipality by the fact
that all projects have been on the island come from
donations of foreign expatriates in Australia. Roads,
electricity, etc.
Lipsi has developed a tourist industry the last decade but
the island has kept its original character and it is one of
the unspoiled Greek islands ideal for relaxing holidays.
